Faculty of Nursing Dean invites alumni to support faculty’s development

UNAIR NEWS- The 22nd Anniversary (Dies Natalis) commemoration of Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Nursing (FKp) started last May, was officially concluded online on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The closing ceremony was attended by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ah. Yusuf, S.Kp., M. Kes, along with the faculty’s staff, the professors of FKp UNAIR, the chairman of the alumni association (IKA) FKp, the lecturers, students, and also the invitees.

There were eight activities carried out to commemorate FKp UNAIR’s Anniversary. Retnayu Pradanie, S. Kep., Ns., M. Kep, as the head of Dies Natalis committee stated that this year’s theme was based on UNAIR’s vision to implement the green campus initiative and to achieve the SDGs 2030. 

“As you know, this year’s Dies Natalis theme is ‘Strengthen Nursing Professionalism through Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Environment.’ This theme is expected to be an encouragement for us all to keep contributing in realizing the faculty’s or Universitas Airlangga’s vision and mission,” said Retnayu. 

In his opening remarks, Prof Yusuf stated that FKp today has a faculty and alumni branding program. This program emphasizes the Faculty of Nursing Alumni Association(IKA FKp)’s role to run a working program work well together with FKp’s vision and mission to achieve progress and development for the faculty and the alumni. Prof Yusuf hoped that IKA FKp could be a bridge between the needs of the faculty and the needs of the alumni.

“I am very supportive towards IKA FKp on running its function and role to gather alumni who are located outside Java and abroad so that we may collaborate,” expressed Prof Yusuf.

Furthermore, Prof Yusuf also stated that alumni development could be realized to increase competence in facing healthcare service demands. So, IKA FKp can be very useful for alumni.

“Hopefully, if there are alumni who became an official in an area, and he or she needs an employee, then he or she may put our alumni first,” explained Prof Yusuf.

The positive impact expected from holding the closing ceremony is to strengthen the spiritual aspects of the academic community, so they can be more mature in taking action and make all their efforts in doing tasks according to their roles and functions. 

“These difficult times we face should not make us stop contributing,” he concluded. The session was closed with a short tausiyah and a closing prayer.
