Dwi Retno Puspitasari, a student of the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Airlangga, wins the 2021 East Java Cultural Ambassador selection.

UNAIR NEWS – A student of Universitas Airlangga has made the proudest achievement at the provincial level. Dwi Retno Puspitasari from the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Airlangga crowned as the winner in the 2021 East Java Cultural Ambassador event on Sunday night, June 13, 2021, at 88 Embong Malang and Surabaya Mall BG junction.

The activity organized by the Sahabat Pemuda Prestasi Indonesia Foundation was attended by participants from various regions in East Java. Retno said that her parents were very supportive of her participation. It is evident from their careful preparation and supports.

In the process, Retno spent approximately one month preparing all the necessities. The preparations included filing, as well as preparing materials on Malang Regency and East Java’s culture. Moreover, there was also region’s cultural promotional video production and public speaking preparation.

For the student from Malang, the preparations were not easy. Mastery of cultural material and public speaking became quite a challenge for her. In addition, she found it difficult to get information about other region’s culture because there is still very limited information about regional culture.

“So in the future, more online publications related to regional cultural activities are needed. Because we have many and diverse regional cultures, especially East Java,” said the Class of 2017 student.

Retno said that being the winner, she will design and run work programs to advance and preserve East Javanese culture in the future. Furthermore, she will also make preparations to go to the Indonesian cultural ambassador event.

“With the existing work programs, we can educate school-age children both online and offline. There are also virtual cultural festival activities and many other activities,” she added.

With this achievement, Retno hoped she can play an active role in preserving Indonesian culture, especially East Java’s, and invites other millennials to love the regional culture more. (*)
