UNAIR NEWS – Eagerness to promote the public health sector is one of Vina Himmatus Sholikhah’s motivations to take part in This is Public Health (TIPH) Global Student Ambassador organized by Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). Vina managed to make an achievement by becoming the only representative from Indonesia who passed the event.

“As a student of public health, I would like to introduce what public health is, about its job prospects and what is studied in public health itself,” she said on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Furthermore, Vina revealed that she would carry out her duties as a student ambassador for one year, from March 15, 2021, to March 14, 2022. During that period, Vina will participate in several activities carried out online, including the Online Forum, Profile in Public Health, Student Story, Virtual Meet and Greet, I Heart Public Health, and the TIPH Global Grant Project.

“When I was declared to qualify as a part of TIPH Global Student Ambassador, I was surprised as I didn’t expect it, but I also feel proud and grateful because I was given the opportunity to study public health with people from various countries,” said Vina.

The student of Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) said that there were five assessed criteria in selecting ambassadors, the ability to communicate about public health, communication skills, professionalism, social media proficiency, and nominator recommendation.
Vina said that to become a TIPH Global Student Ambassador, she must be able to communicate public health-related matters. Furthermore, she is also required to communicate using English because the TIPH Global Student Ambassador participants come from many countries.

Finally, Vina advised not to waste the opportunity in front of the eye because no one would ever know when another opportunity would come. She also motivated other students to get rid of their fear when trying new things.

“By participating in this activity (TIPH Global Student Ambassador, ed), I get a lot of new experiences, new knowledge and new friends from around the world. In the future, I also hope that I can share the information I got from this activity with others,” concluded the class of 2018 student.

As the best university in Indonesia, UNAIR supports its human resources to develop themselves to contribute to society. (*)
