UNAIR NEWS – The leaderships of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) greeted Senior High School students in a talk show, Ayo Bersiap Kuliah di UNAIR (lit: Let’s Get Ready to Study at UNAIR). Aired live on the JTV station on Friday Night, March 19, 2021, the event was intended to convey the latest progress and information regarding UNAIR admission pathways SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Independent Admission (Mandiri).

Approaching the announcement of SNMPTN admission result on March 22, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., reminded the SNMPTN quota this year is smaller than last year, so the possibility to be admitted in UNAIR is also decreasing.

“Now, all you can do is pray and do good deeds. But don’t forget to prepare for the SBMPTN, which will open for registration from March 15 to April 1,” he explained.

Prof. Nasih also hoped that after the SNMPTN results are announced on Monday, students will follow up and complete their registration in their programs of choices, either in the first choice or the second choice.

“Usually there were many cases where students pass in the second choice program then feel unsuitable, and decided not to re-register. It means they have eliminated seat and the opportunity for other registrants to be admitted, because the remaining quota will be transferred to SBMPTN and Independent Admission exams, “said Prof. Nasih.

Prepare for 28,000 participant capacity

Regarding SBMPTN, the Head of Computer-Based Exam Center (UTBK) Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM., who was also present on the occasion ensured UNAIR’s readiness to hold the SBMPTN exam. UNAIR will provide 28,000 capacity for registrants who want to take the exam at UNAIR.

“The test will be held for a week and each day is divided into 2 sessions. The 28,000 exam participants will also be distributed in 3 places, Campus A, Campus B, and Campus C UNAIR. The goal is, of course, to avoid crowds, as the health protocol, “he added.

Furthermore, UNAIR is currently coordinating with the Surabaya Covid Task Force to determine a health protocol mechanism for the implementation of UTBK exam later.

Meanwhile, Head of UNAIR Student Admission Center (PPMB) Dr. Achmad Solihin, SE., M.Si. urged students to maintain their health as much as possible because there is only one opportunity to join UTBK exam.

“For the UTBK exam, like last year, participants must show negative Covid-19 rapid test results. If there are fellow students who are positive or sick on the day of the exam, they are automatically forfeited,” he explained.

Dr. Achmad also reminded UTBK participants to register immediately, especially regarding the test site, because the capacity of each campus is limited. (*)
