UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR continues to improve its institutional quality. After being ranked #521-530 in the QS World University Ranking (WUR) in 2020, UNAIR has the ambition to improve the ranking to #300 WCU by 2024. Therefore, alumni’s role is needed as the face of the alma mater to realize this ambition.

For this reason, on Saturday morning, February 20, 2021, the Directorate of Career Development, Entrepreneurship Incubation, and Alumni (DPKKA) held a Vote Gathering via Zoom to attract contributions from alumni who have worked in various agencies. Muhammad Miftahussurur, dr., M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D., as Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization and Information, explained the development of UNAIR quality to the alumni.

He explained that using the QS WUR ranking; the assessment was divided into two. 50% of the total score is taken from a survey of academics worldwide and graduate users, while the other 50% comes from the respective universities’ performance.

“There is more weight to the assessment if academics or alumni fill out the survey. It is much more considered compared to UNAIR employees who fill it out. The ratio is around 4: 1. As a result, we can see how essential alumni’s contribution to improving the quality of UNAIR, “said the Internal Medicine specialist.

Miftahussurur explained that higher education performance benchmarks that affect the 50% assessment are related to academic reputation, employer reputation, and students’ quality and the frequency of student exchanges. He also shared an improved position in UNAIR’s employer reputation until now it has reached 272nd place.

“However, there is a downward trend in the number of voters from Southeast Asia who voted for UNAIR, while the trend for voters from Southeast Asia on top universities in Indonesia has increased. As a result, we need cooperation from employers to choose UNAIR, “he said.

After the presentation from Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Digitalization and Information, the gathering vote was continued with an explanation of the procedures for choosing UNAIR on the QS website guided by the Director of DPPKA UNAIR, Prof. Elly Munadziroh, to the alumni who attended the event.
