UNAIR NEWS – The annual event of UNAIR Asian Law Students Association (ALSA) LC, Care and Legal Coaching Clinic (CLCC), is back this year. CLCC is a subsidiary program of ALSA Indonesia. This program is divided into two activities, ALSA Care and ALSA Legal Coaching Clinic. To find out more about the details of ALSA Care’s activities, the team of contributors decided to interview Patricia Yessy Davina as Project Officer of CLCC 2020 ALSA LC UNAIR on Monday night, December 7, 2020.

Patricia Yessy Davin or Cia, in short, explained that the theme of CLCC 2020 carried out by ALSA Indonesia was related to child protection, but UNAIR ALSA LC focused more on child bullying topic. She added that the reason why the committee team wanted to raise the issue of child bullying in Indonesia was that bullying is still happening among children and legal protection mechanisms related to bullying is not clear and rarely known by the public.

ALSA Care was held for two days on 3-4 December 2020 at Nurhidayatullah Orphanage Foundation, Surabaya. According to Cia, these activities revolve around social events and the goal of ALSA Care this year is to educate children living in the foundation regarding child bullying.

“In holding this activity, we also collaborated with Community Service team from UNAIR Faculty of Psychology’s Student Executive Board (BEM). Regarding the details of the ALSA Care program, colleagues from Faculty of Psychology worked more towards education in general and used questionnaires filled in by children. From us, we provide education related to legal protection from child bullying in a simple way, also with games, “said the student of class 2019.

Cia admitted that the foundation and the children welcomed the ALSA Care program with open arms and a warm welcome, even though there were some obstacles in the delivery of the material, maintaining the focus and interest of the children.

“We can also see that the children here can open up and talk about their experiences related to bullying,” she concluded.

The ALSA Care activity from CLCC 2020 was followed by ALSA Legal Coaching Clinic which was held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 with a talk show format and invited representatives from the Correctional Agency, UNAIR Child Psychology Expert Margaretha, S.Psi., PGDip.Psych., M.Sc., and influencer Brandon de Angelo.
