2 UNAIR Nursing Students Wins in National Essay Competition

UNAIR NEWS – Carrying the idea of ​​SEEMON (Self E-Monitoring): Application of Independent Monitoring of Palliative Care for Chronic Disease Patients Based on the Internet of Things, Faculty of Nursing’s student made another achievement even amid Covid-19 pandemic. FKp UNAIR delegation won 2nd place in the Islamic Health Essay Competition with the theme Optimizing the Civil Generation management Palliative Care in Industrial Age 4.0 which was held by Faculty of Nursing UNAIR on July 3-October 24 2020.

The team consisted of two people, namely Khorunnisa Suhandarini and Adelya Salsabila Putri, 2019 UNAIR Faculty of Nursing student. The innovation is made in the form of an application that is easy to use anywhere and anytime for chronic disease patients to get quality palliative care.

“The background of the application that we have initiated is that palliative care has not been maximized in Indonesia due to limited health personnel. Thus, this application facilitates chronic disease patients to be able to care for themselves at home with based supervision internet of things- by health workers such as doctors, nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists and nutritionists, “said Adelya.

Khoirunnisa and Adelya were grateful for winning the competition. “Alhamdulillah, Adelya and I won this competition even though during the Covid-19 pandemic. The selection was entirely online. “said Khoirunnisa.

To win this competition requires cooperation, hard work and persistence. A high level of collaboration is needed from making powerpoints to video editing.

“In winning a competition at the national level, totality is an important thing, because if we are half-hearted in doing something, the results will also be partial,” said Adelya.

“As usual in essay competitions, we started with the stage of finding ideas, writing scientific essays, making application designs and making prototypes applications as well as making video presentations,” she added.

Moreover, finding a suitable title is essential, and the preparation of the work must be completely adjusted to the competition manual.

“The title must be reasonable and exciting. The preparation of the work must be under the theme, and there are innovations offered with a review of various journal sources. Besides, the assessment criteria must be considered to maximize opportunities, ” said Khoirunnisa.

In the future, Khoirunnisa and Adelya hope to win a similar competition again, by continuing to learn to create a better essay. Thus, they can make an essay that is useful for others. (*)
