UNAIR NEWS – The administration continues to make efforts to reduce the distribution of Coronavirus (Covid-19), one of the policies is learning from home for students. At the same time, Universitas Airlangga issued a rector circular to advise each faculty to hold a Midterm Exam(UTS) online that began Monday, March 16, 2020.

With the issuance of the rector circular, UNAIR Faculty of Fisheries and Marine is ready with SUJANA android app. Sujana means a virtuous or wise person. The application was created to facilitate FPK students doing UTS questions online.

For other alternatives if you have problems accessing questions via Android, students can access the s.id/sujanasites page using laptops or personal computers (PCs).

Vice Dean I of FPK Dr. Endang Dewi Masithah, Ir., MP and Faculty Coordinator Ir. Agustono M. Kes participated in monitoring the implementation of SUJANA applications during the exam. Een, how the vice dean known as, also said that the application of SUJANA as an online test media is a sure way to shorten the work chain, both from the procurement of questions and correcting questions.

“Correcting questions in the form of LJK have risk of mixed up student grades. If one student made mistakes writing down their identity, it would cause the order of the questions arranged after the scanning process randomized when they want to enter grades on the cyber campus, “said Dr. Een

The application created by Arya Adi Budiman, S.Kom, Head of Academic Sub-Division of SBAK FPK said, it was initially used for the exam of two courses, Fish Feed Technology and Sociology and Extension Education.

However, after the issuance of the chancellor’s circular regarding the limitation of academic activities for two weeks, the online exam implementation with the app is used for all even semester courses and tested from Monday, March 16, to Thursday, March 26, 2020.

With SUJANA, there is no need to print the test questions, and the lecturer only has to submit the exam questions to the officer who usually conducts the procurement of questions.

“The initial purpose I made was to deal with the problem in the procurement of ATK (office stationery, ed). That way the concept of the exam this time leads to the concept of paperless, ” said Arya.

If the lecturer in charge of the course (PJMK) wants access to monitor the ongoing examination, Arya can provide such access so after the exam, the lecturer can directly give grades directly.

“If the test done paper-based, the staff would conduct answer sheet scanning and it takes a week. With this app (SUJANA, ed) lecturers can give grades in less than a week, ” explained the Head of Academic Affairs Subdivision.

Hopefully, the development of online exams can be done in the classroom with a system of multiple choices with closed-book. So if there is a disturbance in the middle of the test, students can report it to the supervisor in the room. (*)
