Farah Nafilah, FKH UNAIR Students Join IVSA Winter Event in Thailand

UNAIR NEWS – Mostly, the students have the desire to attend conferences or cross-border activities. It has become a valuable experience for students and one of the students in Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga joined the international event.

Being one of seven students from Indonesia who had the opportunity to carry out the International Veterinary Student’s Association (IVSA) Winter Event in Bangkok, Thailand is a pride for students who are familiarly called Farah. IVSA Winter Event is an annual program event which is a gathering place for veterinary students around the world.

To UNAIR NEWS, she shared some of her experiences in the activity. “I prepared everything related to administration requirements, cultural performances and Indonesian food which will later be displayed on Cultural Night,” she said.

Furthermore, a series of activities that coincided with the semester break added to the excitement of this activity. Besides, various matters in the field of veterinary medicine discussed in the event.

“In this event, I had the opportunity to attend public lectures at Chulalongkorn University and Kasetart University,” she continued.

One of the public lectures at Chulalongkorn University discussed South Africa’s swine flu. This issue becomes a very important thing to discuss because it is one of the spotlights of various circles, especially in the field of veterinary medicine, and it can cause a major outbreak. Furthermore, Farah explained that in the same place also subject to the Federation of Asian Veterinary Association (FAVA) as the largest veterinary organization in Asia.

Another case at Kasetart University, one of the public lecture discussed the basic physical examination on equine. Besides, the activity was continued by visiting several animal conservation sites in Bangkok.

Besides, Farah met new friends from veterinary students from other countries. We learned new things, and developed a relationship with people is an unforgettable opportunity.

“For FKH UNAIR students who want to know more about veterinary medicine in the international forum, then by attending the IVSA event will be useful for student,” she said.

In the end, Farah hopes that more of FKH Indonesian students will take part in the IVSA event so that Indonesia students can be recognized in the international realm.
