UNAIR Rector encourages professors to develop science in industrial era 4.0

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga inaugurated another four professors on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Garuda Mukti Hall, Campus C UNAIR. The four professors came from three different scientific fields.

The four professors are Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Narmada, drg., Ap. Ort (K) and Prof. Dr., Tamara Yuanita, drg., MS, Sp. KG (K) from Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG), Prof. Dr. Hendy Hendarto, dr., Sp. OG (K) from Faculty of Medicine (FK). And Prof. Junaidi Khotib, S. Si., M. Kes., Ph.D., Apt. from Faculty of Pharmacy (FF).

With this professorship inauguration, UNAIR has 207 active professors while since its establishment in 1954, UNAIR has given birth to 499 professors.

On this occasion, Rector of UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA, conveyed several mandates to the inaugurated professors. Prof. Nasih said that becoming a professor is part of the achievement from the choice to develop knowledge.

“The path of every teaching staff, especially lecturers, is to become a professor who has responsibility for their knowledge,” he said.

Prof. Nasih also said that a professor must make innovation in the era of Industrial Revolution 4. 0. The innovation must also be followed with humanity values possessed by every professor.

Prof, Nasih also said that in this inauguration there was something special. The professors are able to use other science approaches to accelerate the research. This approach was emphasized by Prof. Nasih so professors can always provide solutions.

“With the help of other fields of science, the professors are expected to be able to answer challenges in the future,” he said.

The four inaugurated professors studied some millennial issues that could be overcome. With their expertise, the professors presented the results of their research to the public.

Prof. Ida explained about millennial era’s malocclusion treatments such as CBT to 3D intra oral scanners were able to diagnose and treat orthodontics. Then Prof. Tamara explained her research on cocoa fruit waste extracts which is able to improve disinfection of tooth root canals.

While Prof. Hendy presented IVF solutions as a technology to overcome infertility problems in the future and Prof. Junaidi explained the engineering development of safe and high quality Erythropoietin products for the community. (*)
