UNAIR NEWS – In order to improve collaboration and international connection with the United States, Universitas Airlangga once again strengthened ties in the aspect of education through the opening of Education USA initiated by UNAIR and the US Consulate General. Education USA will be a mean of information and consultation, open to all parties to get to know about the higher education institutions in the United States.
UNAIR is the first institution which opens Education USA. Previously, the program only existed at the US Consulate General in Surabaya. The program will take place in the American Corner of UNAIR Campus B Library. American Corner is a reading and learning room that was established 15 years ago from the collaboration of UNAIR and the United States.
“In this program, US Embassy will work directly with UNAIR library staff to present the most complete, up-to-date data and information on education of higher education institutions in America through an education advisor. The MoU signed became a form of further collaboration between UNAIR and the US Consulate General, “said Dian Ekowati as Secretary of Airlangga Global Engagement.
In the opening and MoU signing session on Friday, November 8, 2019, Mark McGovern as US Consul General conveyed some statements regarding the importance of opening Education USA.
“The USA has long cooperated with UNAIR through this American Corner, but then we saw that there were six thousand Indonesian students studying in the USA, the numbers is always increasing. For this reason, we hope that the opening of Education USA will be able to help students plan their studies in America more easily, cheaply and quickly, “he explained.
Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM as UNAIR Vice Rector I commented that networking and facilities UNAIR had built with the collaboration must be utilized well by students.
“The era of disruption is in sight and UNAIR understood well about it. Therefore, use American Corner and Education USA as a mean to improve competence, publications, teamwork, and global networking through cultural and student exchanges, “he said.
Through the event that was held at American Corner of Campus B Library, UNAIR is expected to encourage students in Surabaya and East Java to achieve a global academic standard through the cooperation of UNAIR and the US Consulate General. (*)
