FISIP UNAIR Delegation Wins First Place in UB National Debate Competition

UNAIR NEWS – Delegation of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga won first place in POLITE National Debate Competition held by Political Student Association (HIMAPOL) Universitas Brawijaya Malang. Represented by M. Akbar William (International Relations), Maharani Esa Nabila (Political Science), and Mariska Dyah Astari (Communication Science). FISIP delegation defeated 12 other teams from various leading universities. Following the main theme of Political Discourse: Measuring the Future of Indonesia After 2019 Election. Akbar said that several things are needed to be prepared before the competition.

“We don’t have any special preparation, we study and do some research before the competition. Moreover, we also joined UKM Debate, “said Akbar.

In fact, we are grateful to win this competition and competed with some students from several universities.

Meanwhile, the main motivation of FISIP delegation was not only wanting to excel and boasting the name of the campus but also because they wanted to change their routine activities. Akbar said a student should join a competition to help them prepare their future.

He shared a few tips on overcoming nervous during the competition. “One of the ways to overcome these things is by encouraging ourselves to be success,” he added.  

Therefore, he advised students should try new things by joining the competition. “Focus on the competition and do our best, “he concluded. (*)
