UNAIR NEWS – Nursing Master Program Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a counseling program on Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in order to realize tri dharma of higher education, namely community service. There were at least 15 students who took part in the event and were held at Pelangi Kendangsari Village RT 3 RW 4, Surabaya. With the title “Processing and Utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in maintaining health” on Sunday, October 20.
The event was held from 07.30-12.00 p.m and was attended by Elida Ulfiana S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the supervisor of the activity. Retno Wulandari, a representative of Kendangsari village was happy with the activities especially in the context of improving economy for the community.
Nur Sayyid Jalaluddin Rummy, S.Kep., Ns., as chief organizer of the event revealed the activity was aimed at making Kampung Pelangi community use toga plants and sell the products: beras kencur, honey turmeric, and wedang uwuh. “We explain the purpose and benefits of TOGA, but we demonstrate the manufacture of product packaging,” she added.
Enniq Mazayudha, S.Kep., Ns. as the committee said that they also planted TOGA near to the community area. We hoped they could continue planting TOGA in the future.
Besides, the visitors got free health checks such as blood sugar, cholesterol, gout, blood pressure. There was a door prize session distributed by the committee as an appreciation to the community and symbolic session of giving souvenir for the representative of Pelangi Kendangsari village. (*)
