UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held “FISIPrecious” as the final event 42nd Anniversary celebration. FISIP Anniversary was attended by Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Garuda Mukti Hall, Campus C Building, UNAIR.

“When I was at the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Provincial Government there were at least ten remarks and I always mentioned Prof. Soetandyo’s name twice. My interaction with him was frequent to ask him to share his knowledge, “said Khofifah Indar Parawansa in his remarks.

Khofifah admitted that until now the knowledge from Prof. Soetandyo was still applied when she served as Governor of East Java. Khofifah said she often quoted Prof. Soetandyo’s words in each of his remarks.

“The vision of Government of East Java Province is full of Prof. Soetandyo’s core values, the contents are about how we create a society of East Java that is just, prosperous, superior, moral, with participatory inclusive government mentality, ” she said.

One of the knowledge Khofifah really remembers is about changes in life. For that reason, Khofifah is always open to collaboration and she does not hesitate to get acquainted with new knowledge.

“Life is change, what never changes is change itself. Every time I quote it, I always say that it used to be the teaching of Prof. Soetandyo. I may rarely interact with him at FISIP but my prayers were always with him, ” she said.

Besides, Khofifah who is also an alumna of FISIP UNAIR admitted that she often invited Prof. Soetandyo to give materials in PMII and IPPNU. Furthermore, Khofifah also recalled how Prof. Soetandyo conveyed the importance of civil society. It is what Khofifah continues to remember.

“In the past, talking about civil society in the new order era was actually something that many people hesitate, it seemed like a closed door. Now in that position Prof. Soetandyo is actually opening the minds of many people, not only in FISIP UNAIR or East Java, but also anyone who interacts with his way of thinking, I feel that I will definitely get extraordinary anti-poverty enrichment, ” she concluded.

Until now Prof. Soetandyo as the founding professor of FISIP will continue to be remembered and the knowledge passed on to students has always been a provision for development. (*)
