UNAIR NEWS – Following up on the dissemination of ecotourism, Nusantara Jaya Expedition (ENJ) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) took real action with residents to clean the beach. This time Kaifula’a was chosen. The sea is clean and clear, but there is a lot of garbage on the coast and between the corals.

The beach clean-up activity, Clean Beach, Bright Future, was held on Tuesday (6/8/19). The youth of Lawakamo Village (Lalole, Watuampara, Kamoali, and Mokobeao) attended with the locals.

Rizki Putra Solihin as the person in charge of the work program, explained that the activity aimed to build the love and awareness of the people of West Siompu towards the environment. With this love, they are moved to protect nature and support the creation of an ecotourism village in West Siompu.

“Residents here are not very aware of protecting the environment around them. They still often throw garbage in gardens and the sea,” said Rizki.

“With this activity, hopefully, they will have a love for the environment so that West Siompu will remain clean,” he added.

In addition to cleaning the beach, the ENJ UNAIR 2019 team also installed several signposts. In addition to beautifying the beach, the sign also serves as a reminder for all visitors to maintain the cleanliness of the environment anywhere and anytime.

“The environment must be protected. So, we initiated the installation of the signposts. Moreover, it can be made as a keepsake if ENJ UNAIR was here,” he said.

Clean Beach, Bright Future activity is highly appreciated by the people of West Siompu. Evidently, the enthusiasm of the community was very high in enlivening the activity. (*)
