UNAIR NEWS – Computer Based Writing Exam (UTBK) 2019 entered the ninth session on Saturday on May 4. There was something different for UTBK Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) this year. It can be seen from blind student who also participated in examination room of the Center for Learning and Certification (PIPS).
Huriyah Dhawy Febrianti, a participant from SMAN 8 Surabaya with special needs. In addition, UNAIR provides exclusive application by using a scan reader. The girl who was born in Surabaya does have a high enthusiasm in studying.
As a blind person, it does not necessarily makes Febri to give up. She wants to study in UNAIR by choosing Indonesian Literature and English Literature. Furthermore, she also wants to be a writer and editor.
Febri revealed that assistance and facilities provided by UNAIR were great. “Good assistance like this must be maintained. People with disabilities need this facilities” she explained.
Febri said that if she get accepted in UNAIR, she does not want a different treatment with other students. Moreover, there was Irene, a mother of children with special needs. She hopes that Febri will get same treatment like other student in university. Febri has the right to continue her study at state university (PTN).
“Hopefully, the goverment will give more support to people with disabilities by providing assitance. Helping Febri during her study. Thus, the government support for education is needed. Especially with facilities.”explained Irene.
Meanwhile, Agung as IT staff of UTBK said febri answered all of the quiestion by herself during the examination.
