UNAIR NEWS – To understand National Education Day (Hardiknas) on May 2, as an nation, we should review literally the true meaning of education. The meaning of education according to Big Indonesian Language Dictionary (KBBI) is the process of changing attitudes and behavior of a person or group of people in an effort to make people mature through teaching and training efforts, processes, methods, and educational efforts.

Education develops capabilities and forms a dignified character and national civilization in order to educate the life of the nation. Moh. Wahyu Syafi’ul Mubarok is one student who realizes the importance of education. As a student, Moh. Wahyu believes education is the most powerful weapon to develop self-potential.

The 2016 UNAIR S1 Physics student is known for his writing outstanding achievements. He has made a number of achievements both at national and international levels.

“Writing for me is a work for immortality,” Moh. Wahyu.

Some of his inspiring achievements included the most inspirational category at national level in 2016 Muslim Student Ecoliteration Spirit Writing Competition, being the finalist of 2017 National Essay Contest, 1st Place at National Workshop Essay Contest in 2018, Finalist of Asean Poetry Writing Contest 2 in 2018, first place of 2018 International Scientific Writing and Symposium Olympad, won the 2018 International Invention and Innovative Competition, and dozens other writing achievements.

Wahyu has also published 7 books and 50 anthology books. His works was in great demand by several publishersIn addition, Wahyu claimed to be active in various faculties, universities, and outside campus organizations. He said he did not want to waste the opportunity to create works. As long as the activity is beneficial, Wahyu does not hesitate to follow it.

With all those achievements Wahyu is actually a 2016 national student bidikmisi student. Wahyu was born to a family with financial limitations. This is an obstacle to Wahyu in fulfilling the necessities of life. The support from bidikmisi which is often not on time requires Wahyu to look for side jobs.

Wahyu did not lose his enthusiasm, he used his writing talent. Wahyu sent various articles in famous media, including UNAIR NEWS. The money from his writing works helped Wahyu a little to continue his studies.

“I work with ink, in addition to spreading goodness. I can make this side job to fulfill my needs, “said the 21-year-old man.

Wahyu believed that this National Education Day’s is the right moment to look at the struggles he had done. He expressed his gratitude to UNAIR for giving an opportunity to get an education at one of the best campuses in Indonesia. Wahyu only advised that there should be synergy between university and students to achieve all expected goals. (*)
