D3 Nursing Successfully Held Basic Life Support Training

UNAIR NEWS – D3 Nursing Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with East Java Indonesian Emergency and Disaster Nursing Association (HIPGABI) successfully held a Basic Life Support (BLS) training on Saturday, April 20 at Lamongan Campus Nursing D3. Basic Life Support or commonly known in Indonesia as Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) which is an attempt to save patient or victim life in threatening condition.

Candra Perwira, S.kep., Ns., And Sriyono, S.kep., Ns., M.kep., S.kep., MB as lecturers in Faculty of Nursing UNAIR and Head of HIPGABI East Java Province and Dr. Joni haryanto, S.kp., M.si as Head Department of D-III Nursing UNAIR and staff in Surabaya PHC Hospital became the speakers in training event. Being held for the first time, UNAIR D3 students in IV semester should participate in the event. Namely, as a requirement for job training in Dr. Hospital Soetomo.

Head of UNAIR Nursing D3 Student Association confirmed the information. The fourth semester D3 Nursing students must take part in BLS training as one of job training requirements in Dr. RSUD Soetomo. Including job training in Universitas Airlangga Hospital.

“This BLS practice is dealing with victims of accident, applying bandages and binders, and living and moving program. Thank God, the activity went smoothly.” said Ayu, one of BLS training participants.

After the training, each participant received a certificate from DPW PPNI East Java Province. The three best participants from post test received rewards.

Responding to the activity, Head of BEM UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) hoped there will be follow up training to reach more student. “As Head of BEM, I hope this activity will reach more student, not only for  UNAIR D3 fourth semester students,” he said.

“BEM FV fully support this event, we will support Hima decision” he added.

In the training attended by 136 participants, students are expected to apply the knowledge gained during the event for the community directly. (*)
