UNAIR NEWS – The Indonesian Fisheries Student Association (HIMAPIKANI) is an organization that brings together all fisheries students in Indonesia. Since its establishment on March 1, 1991 in Ujung Pandang, Makassar, HIMAPIKANI is divided into 7 regions spread throughout Indonesia.
PSDKU (Off Main Campus Program) of Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi is one of the universities incorporated in HIMAPIKANI Region IV. East Java along with Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara are within the scope of region IV.
HIMAPIKANI is led by a central secretary general and in its management, the secretary general is assisted by regional coordinators in 7 regions.
The management of 2018/2020 HIMAPIKANI region IV is led by M. Reynaldy Thoriq Al-Islam a student of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi. The regional coordinator was appointed at Universitas Airlangga Surabaya at Regional Conference (MUSWIL) last year.
To UNAIR NEWS on April 10, the student of FPK PSDKU Banyuwangi, Thoriq explained about the work program. The work program will be implemented in a two-year term.
“In the current management, the work programs I carried out include Basic Skills and Management (LKMM), fishery EXPO, community empowerment and coastal conservation, and maritime schools,” explained the fourth semester student.
The purpose of all work programs is inseparable from his vision and mission as regional coordinator. In addition to expanding relations, it can also add insight into the vast scope of fisheries science as its goal.
Thoriq held dissemination to the work program he presented. He also works with the Student Association at each university that has fishery program or faculty in region IV.
Thoriq also hoped that the management could apply the knowledge obtained in college and be a bridge for the fishery communities and the government.
“Hopefully this year’s management will be more solid, as a warm and comfortable family, so the common goal can be realized well,” he concluded.
