25,852 Students Joins UTBK in UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – The implementation of Computer Based Writing Examination (UTBK) as a requirement for participating in 2019 State Higher Education Entrance Selection (SBMPTN) will begin on April 13. Various preparations have been made by UNAIR. Including, HR and Personal Computer (PC) preparation as a tool to carry out the exam.

Regarding to this matter, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih was accompanied by Head of UTBK UNAIR, Junaidi Khotib, Ph.D., gave an explanation to the media crew on Friday April, 5 in Rector’s room, UNAIR Management Office. In his press statement, Prof. Nasih said that so far UNAIR ready to hold UTBK which in the first session will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

“We have prepared all the servers. Insha Allah there will be no problem. We involve many parties and we have already checked everything.” explained the Rector.

There are two session in UTBK tests. The first session, there will be attended by 13,856 participants, while the second session will be 11,996 participants. In total there were 25,852 participants who will join UTBK in UNAIR.

In the first session, the capacity provided by UNAIR was fulfilled 99.83 percent. There was only 1-2 unused seats. While in the second session, 82.72 percent of the seats provided were used.

In implementing UTBK, Universitas Airlangga cooperates with several campuses in Surabaya. Among others, University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UMS), Universitas Doktor Soetomo (Unitomo), Universitas Tujuh Belas Agustus (Untag), and Sekolah Tinggi Ekonomi Surabaya (STIESIA).

“In UTBK UNAIR, 1,085 computers were prepared in UNAIR, 75 computers at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya, 50 computers in Unitomo, 100 computers at Untag, 180 computers at STESIA. All 13,000 computers are ready to be used, “said the Rector.

In each session, UNAIR prepared around 80 people to handle UTBK. Hopefully, students will prepare themselves before the exam.” said the professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR.

Prof. Nasih said UTBK committee had prepared to avoid unwanted things, including fraud. He appealed to students to find more about UTBK rules.

In addition, students must be on location 30 minutes before the test began. At 7:00, the participants should be ready in the location and at 7:30 the participants entered the room. Within 30 minutes, they need to find their seat,  committee will check their identity card, and other preparations.

“At 8:00, the exam will begin and if the participants late, they are not allowed to take the exam and considered absent,” said the Rector.

He also emphasized that participants were not allowed to bring stationery, communication devices, paper and other equipment. All stationery will be prepared by the committee, including paper to count.

While regarding making UTBK questions, Rector said that UNAIR was not involved in the preparation of exam. All UTBK questions are prepared by College Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT). (*)
