U NAIR NEWS – Museum of History and Culture of Universitas Airlangga University Faculty of Humanities (FIB) which is rarely visited, even known by students inspired UNAIR Faculty of History to hold a mini history museum exhibition. Being held on the first floor hall of FIB UNAIR, it exhibited most of the collections held by UNAIR Museum of History and Culture.

Muhammad Ramadhan said that the exhibition was intended to introduce students to historical items in the museum.

“So far, students, especially those in FIB, rarely enter the Museum of History and Culture. So they don’t know what’s in it, “added the chief executive of the activity.

Previously, a museum exhibition was held in 2018 as part of the Museology course. It attracted a lot of positive appreciation from lecturers and students, both from History Department itself and other departments. Then the exhibition of Museum of History and Culture was held again for the second time on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.

“This museum exhibition is actually a series of 21st Anniversary of Historical Science Program. From here we want to educate students about what is in the museum. That the historical items mentioned in the books are not fiction. We have the proof, “said Puspita Rina Apritiwi, a student of 2017 class.

Student participation in these activity was very good, continued Puspita, especially from S2 students in Literature and Cultural Studies. In fact, one of them, who is an alumnus of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta, offered to donate his collection of historical objects to Department of History.

The History and Culture Museum exhibition will be held for two days. On the second day, Thursday, March 28, 2019 there will be a book launching by two lecturers of History, Dr. Purnawan Basundoro, S.S., M. Hum., and Arya Wanda Wirayuda, S. Hum., MA

In the future, the Museum of History and Culture will have its own strategic location like the Ethnographic Museum, making it easier for students and the general public to visit any time. It was the recommendations of National Museum some time ago.

UNAIR has three types of museums, History and Culture Museum in FIB, the Ethnographic Museum in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and the Museum of Health in Medical Faculty (FK). (*)
