UNAIR NEWS – “From the heart, ready to serve”. A tagline that sets the spirit of enthusiasm alight for UNAIR Bidikmisi students to continue to share their kindness through the service activity titled “Bidik Misi Service Camp”. The Community Service Camp is one of the main work programs of Ministry of Community Service (Pengmas) of Airlangga University Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO) which is held at the beginning of the year.

Entering the fourth year, the 2019 Community Service Camp is prepared to greet the partner village community. This activity is also a way for UNAIR Bidikmisi students to spend the end of semester holiday. During the Camp, the participants will conduct the community service and carry out various activities with the local community for seven days.

Just like last year, 2019 Community Service Camp will be held in Suwaluh Hamlet, Talunrejo Village, Bluluk Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency from 13th to 20th of January. Various preparations has been done for three months before departure, from the division’s internal meeting to the committee’s plenary meeting, the distribution of donations and equipment is prepared well, as the departure schedule is only days away.

“Alhamdulillah, so far the camp preparations is almost finished and we are doing everything to improve what we lack and they can be solved together immediately. The preparation is around 80%, “said Muhammad Topan Ramadhan as Head of 2019 Bidik Misi Community Service Camp.

In contrast to the previous one, the Community Service Camp this time focused more on the field of entrepreneurship. Community empowerment efforts are carried out with a coaching program to make knitting and flower craft products.

“We also establish some reading corners there, so the kids and residents have good literacy and foster interest in reading,” said the 2017 Islamic Economics student.

Although some of the committees were still unable to support with the preparation in Surabaya, Topan admitted that this was not an obstacle to being able to continue coordinating and communicating.

Topan hoped that the Community Service Camp can be an activity that gives benefits for the residents of Suwaluh and the committees.

“Hopefully the work program that we plan can continue and in the future can truly make Suwaluh a creative and independent village as the theme raised in this camp. And the existing values can be used for all of us as students to get closer to the community, “he concluded.
