Semester Break, UNAIR Provides Students in Banyuwangi with Hard skill and Soft skill

UNAIR NEWS – The semester break did not ease Directorate of Student Affairs’s good intentions to guide Off Main Campus Program (PSDKU) student in Banyuwangi. The activity held on Thursday, 20 December in room A202 at UNAIR Banyuwangi campus, this opportunity was utilized by UNAIR Banyuwangi student. They were enthusiastic even though they had entered semester break period, because the majority of UNAIR Banyuwangi PSDKU students are from Banyuwangi district.

On that occasion, Director of Student Affairs Dr. M. Hadi Shubhan., S.H., M.H., CN., explained the purpose of Student Directorate at PSDKU was to meet students, especially ormawa (student organizations) and komikat (community of interests and talents) related to student development patterns presentation about students’ hard skill and soft skill.

“What’s more important today: hard skill or soft skill?” asked Director of Student Affairs to students.

Of all the answers posed by students, he concluded that hard skill or soft skill, both of them are equally important. However, he assured that soft skill for a student was the main one.

“Hard skill was obtained first than soft skill. However, hard skill is only our prerequisite, ” he said.

Director of Student Affairs gave another example, which were about salat and wudhu. He likens ablution as hard skill and that prayer as soft skill.

“It can be interpreted that we can actually do prayer without wudhu. But is it acceptable? From that I liken wudhu as (hardskill) that is our prerequisite for salat (softskill), “he explained.

The director of student affairs also emphasized, as part of the Universitas Airlangga family, we must apply UNAIR jargon “Excellent with Morality” in every aspect of life.

“Because students are adults, where in this position we have our own awareness in developing potential and making decisions independently,” he added.

There were also attended by Head of Academic and Student Affairs Section, Sub-Directorate of Student Affairs and Sub-Directorate of Wealfare who also explained about non-academic activities, scholarships and other opportunities for achievement.

In his presentation, Sub-Directorate of Wealfare gave information related to the competition which was often attended by UNAIR students, there were 20 national competitions and 6 international competitions. In addition, Universitas Airlangga won as the best university in the field of student affairs earlier can increase UNAIR students spirit in Banyuwangi.

“The socialization activities by Directorate of Student Affairs are very important, because PSDKU students will know student affairs duties and functions and we can ask anything related to student affairs realm,” said Melan Anggraini, one of UNAIR Banyuwangi students.
