UNAIR NEWS – To address health problems in community, 65th Community Service Program – Learning with Community (KKN BBM) Group 116 UNAIR held a medical check-up on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at RT 3 RW 1 North Mulyorejo Surabaya Hall.
Ade Lila Arale of the Event division stated the necessity of instilling healthy behavior or lifestyle in the community early on.
“By collaborating a healthy lifestyle demonstration through medical check-up activities. The activity will make the community more concerned about cleanliness and health,” she explained.
In line with SDG 3, Good Health and Well-being, the KKN team provided free health services to citizens with Rapid Response Action (ACT) and the Indonesian Volunteer Society (MRI). In addition to medical check-ups, the team also distributed health kits, disseminated proper hand-washing, sneezing ethics, and tips on maintaining environmental health.
Eighty residents flocked to medical check-up venue. From the results of the examinations, on average, many citizens aged 50-60 have high blood pressure and are reluctant to see a doctor. They did not have enough education on health.
“Actually, people’s awareness of health is still lacking. In the range of 1-10, suppose the awareness is 5. Therefore, to attract the citizens, we also distribute staple food,” explained Aulia Atma, one of the MRI medical volunteers.
Furthermore, Aulia also claimed her party is open to the public. It is not hesitant to share information on how to establish cooperation. “We are very open to the public who are in need, including a free medical, for whom who wants to establish cooperation, furthermore can contact MRI hotline,” she explained.
In the process, UNAIR KKN team kept up their spirit in improving the quality of health of residents in North Mulyorejo Surabaya.
“Considering public service has been a part of higher education tri dharma, I am delighted and always excited during activities. Especially for group 116 friends, ACT and MRI which had given their supports,” expressed Julia.
She hoped that this activity would bring blessings and usefulness to others, spread kindness, and maintain the relationship of all parties involved.
