UNAIR NEWS – In order to support scientific research and publication progress, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Library held a training called “Library Class” for every member of UNAIR academic community. The regularly held programs consist of various classes, one of them is Online Research Management (ORM).

Suhernik, S.Sos., M.Si or Ernik as Head of UNAIR Library stated that academicians learn to access journals in the e-journal database precisely, quickly, and easily in ORM classes. Furthermore, academic civitas, especially bachelor’s degree students, can learn how to publish a scientific journal to the various journal publishers.

“Then, there is literature review class that can make it easier for students to write an article review. In this class, we will introduce tools that can help students to do an article review. Moreover, there is also a journal clinic. In this program, we provide consultations related to the writing of clinical journals,” explained Ernik on Friday, January 14, 2022.

She stated UNAIR Library hopes that the participant of the journal clinic can consult directly with the teams. Ernik also stated, Library Class also opens an Anti-Plagiarism Class to avoid plagiarism and introduce paraphrasing tips to academicians. Additionally, to ease citation making, UNAIR Library also opened a Reference Manager class using the Mendeley application.

“We also open Optimizing MS. Word class, so that Microsoft Word can be used more efficiently while writing a journal or thesis. Moreover, we also hold Canva Online Media Presentation that will help students learn creative design making and interesting presentations online,” she added.

Additionally, UNAIR Library in 2022 will open two new classes, the use of Excel and Webblog. Ernik stated all classes can be followed free of charge, online or offline. Nevertheless, offline classes during the pandemic must be carried out following the situation.

“For the class schedule, we are opening two systems. First, following a schedule that we provided at the website and our social media “unairlibrary”, and the second is to apply according to the participant’s request. Registrations can be done via our website that will be connected to AILIS or contacting Latbang Section Staff WhatsApp (WA) listed on the website,” said Ernik.

She explained that a minimum of 5 participants must be met for on-demand classes. Academicians can freely choose the time between Monday to Friday at 09.00-14.00 WIB. UNAIR Library will always accept class requests, except when the day and time selected is already filled with other schedules.

“We hope, through this Library Classes, UNAIR Library can give contributions to UNAIR. After joining these library classes, we also hope students can understand and make and publish their journals more easily,” she concluded.
