UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) Library Three-year Vocational (D3) Program of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) had been appointed to host the Regional Representative Council Jamboree (DPW) III Indonesian Library and Information Student Association (HMPII). It was held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, online via Zoom Meeting.

The Chief Executive and UNAIR Library program student, Jumro’atin Nur Layly, revealed that the biennial routine strengthens the relationship between library and information science students throughout Indonesia through discussion activities. She added that the event was also aimed at introducing and branding the library science study program through the # growwithlibraryissue campaign.

“This event was attended by students majoring in library and information science, both D3 and S1 from various universities in Indonesia. We usually take turns to hold it offline in our respective host cities, but due to the pandemic conditions, this year, it is held online,” said Layly.

The coverage area of HMPII III includes East Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta. In total, no less than 40 student delegates attended the event.

Two content creators were invited as speakers. They are Didin Mujahidin as the owner of @shootmera.id and Faiqotul Hima, a Youtuber. It is in line with the event’s theme, entitled “How to be a good content creator“.

According to Layly, under current conditions, the media is very influential in branding and promoting libraries. “After the event, we want to build management that can accommodate creators’ content about libraries. The hope is that public interest and knowledge of the library will increase through the content created,” said the 2020 student.

This year’s activity is slightly different from the previous one. All participants are required to donate books to be distributed to the Jojoran Community Reading Space (TBM), Surabaya.

“Hopefully, the discussions and activities carried out can realize a real program. Moreover, it can be held again for years to come,” she wanted. (*)
