UNAIR NEWS – For the second time in October 2021, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga held an international conference. It was entitled “International Conference Veterinary Medicine and Health Science” and held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

Amid limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine chose to hold an online conference via Zoom meeting platformThe organizing committee invited five keynote speakers They were Dr. Adam Wayne Stern, DVM, CMI-IV, CFC, Diplomate ACVP from the Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Adam presented material on “The Veterinary Forensic Autopsy: A Powerful Tool for Investigating Crime Against Animals.”

The second speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Omar, DVM., Ph.D., Fasc. from Universiti Putra Malaysia, talked about “Infectious Disease.” The third speaker was Associate Prof. Ryo Nishimura, DVM., Ph.D. from Tottori University, Japan. On that occasion, Doctor Ryo Nishimura delivered material on “Reproduction in the Cow Update of Bovine Corpus Luteum Physiology.”

The second session continued with speakers from Indonesia, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, drh., M.Sc., Ph.D. , and Prof. Dr. Fedik Abdul Rantam, drh. The two speakers presented material regarding the Covid-19 update in Indonesia and the red and white vaccine development.

UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., in his speech, said that Indonesia has contributed to The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is a global action goal by all countries in the world.

“Two conferences held by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the International Conference on Veterinary Medicine and Health Science (ICVMHS) and the International Conference on Animal Husbandry and Life Science (ICAHLS), are forms of program to provide SDGs actions in realizing government programs and achieving a prosperous society, “said Prof. Nasih.

Furthermore, Prof. Nasih said that collaboration in developing innovative education and research in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry should respond to the times.

“The mutually beneficial partnership relationship between UNAIR, University of Florida, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Tottori University in order to realize scientific progress, is a step that is highly appreciated,” said Prof. Nasih.

The International Conference works with Scopus indexed publishers to publish selected papers. They will support and assist academics and researchers in publishing their research to develop veterinary, animal husbandry, and health sciences.

“Through international conferences held by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, we can improve the knowledge of the academic community and share experiences with colleagues about the latest research from around the world,” concluded Prof. Nasih. (*)
