UNAIR NEWS – The Doctor Inauguration Committee for Period III 2021, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga successfully held an Airlangga Webinar Conference Series 82: 2nd Aesculap (Airlangga Educative Symposium, Current Update, and Leading for All Physicians) with the topic “Covid-19 Self-Isolation Guidelines for the Public” on Sunday, August 15, 2021. This webinar was a series of events from the inauguration of doctors in the form of real contributions and the first service as doctors to the community by upholding the principles of medical ethics.

There is an anxiety among the community in the news, reporting thousands of people died while undergoing self-isolation. It inspired the committee to hold a webinar. The webinar managed to get high enthusiasm from the public, as 786 participants attending the event.

“We think there is a need for new knowledge or a reminder for the public about how to do self-isolation properly. It is not only avoiding contact with other people but also understanding the conditions and dangerous signs of Covid-19 so that it is not too late to go to a health facility if it is necessary,” said dr. Mahendra Eko Saputra, the Head of the Inauguration committee.

In addition to inviting dr. Muhammad Ardian Cahya Laksana, Sp.OG, M.Kes as a speaker, this webinar also invited doctors graduated from FK UNAIR period III as speakers and panelists, including dr. Alif Sholehen, dr. Pandit Tri Bagus Saputra, dr. Sherly Yolanda, dr. Nizar Al Rhaazi, and dr. Rizki Isnantono Prabowo.

“It is an honor for us because all the speakers, panelists, moderators, and hosts are alumni of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga. Apart from being a form of community service, we hope that this event can also show that the quality of doctors who graduated from UNAIR are good,” said dr. Mahendra Eko Saputra.

Behind the success of this event, there was also support and direction from the supervising doctor, Dr. Eighty Mardiyan, dr., Sp.OG(K), and the 193 doctors who had just been inaugurated. Hopefully, for the committee and new medical graduates, this webinar could be one of the first steps to motivate them to do something much bigger and more widely beneficial for the community. Hopefully, there would be an increase in knowledge in the community so that they could participate together in ending the Covid-19 pandemic. (*)
