UNAIR NEWS – English language proficiency is one of the required qualifications for students. Therefore, Librarianship Division Student Association (Hima) of Universitas Airlangga  (UNAIR) Library D3 Program held English for Library TOEFL Workshop aimed at improving students’ English skills.  “Smart Solution to Reach Your Big Dream” event was held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 on the Third Floor Hall of Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNAIR.

The event prepared since April was attended by about 40 students from various faculties in UNAIR such as Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Psychology (FPSi), Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV), and Faculty of Humanities (FIB).

Unlike seminar in general, there were three sessions, seminars, TOEFL training and simulations.

“In my personal opinion, not many seminars provide training. So, here is the good part of our program, in addition to seminars and training, we also provided test simulations to participants, ” explained Yulinar as chairman of the committee to UNAIR NEWS.

The committee invited the owner of Easy, Fast & Simple (EFS) Course Moh. Sholahuddin Ghozali as a speaker at the event. Participants were given materials on listening and grammar. There was a workshop and finally each participant conducted a TOEFL simulation. Participants can get the simulation results through certificates obtained.

The event is expected to support participants in achieving their big dreams, such as studying abroad, taking part in student exchange programs, or volunteering abroad where all this is possible with a standard TOEFL score.

“We hope though participation in this activity, participants can improve their TOEFL scores,” he said.

Aldi the chairman of student association (Kahima), said that the seminar and training are needed by students. “Excellent English proficiency is needed by students. Through this activity, I hope that the knowledge gained can used by participants, especially D3 Library students for internships abroad, “he said. (*)
