UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has been holding the Pharmacy Airlangga Global acadEmy (PAGE) 2021 online for four months. With the theme “Revisiting Advanced Issues in Pharmacy Practice,” the event officially took place on Sunday, October 10, 2021, and will end on Monday, January 17, 2022. As many as 122 participants took part in the activity. The participants consisted of 50% professionals, 40% undergraduate students outside FF UNAIR, and 10% postgraduate students outside FF UNAIR. Among all participants, 15% came from India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

PAGE 2021 is going to hold 16 meetings with unique topics focused on clinical pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, social pharmacy, and pharmacovigilance. The activity invites six lecturers from FF UNAIR and ten lecturers abroad. The ten lecturers come from the University of Sydney Australia, Temple University USA, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Mahasarakham University Thailand, Management and Science University Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi MARA Malaysia.

Furthermore, apt. Andi Hermansyah, Ph.D. as Chair of PAGE 2021, said that PAGE 2021 is a combined package of internationalization programs open to practitioners, academics, researchers, stakeholders, and undergraduate and postgraduate students both at home and abroad. By holding PAGE 2021, FF UNAIR can fulfill eight indicators in one event: inbound students, outbound students, inbound staff, outbound staff, independent learning classes, involvement of practitioners in learning, open online learning, and international collaboration activities.

“This is the first time for us to hold PAGE, but we have planned it as an annual agenda. The simple idea of PAGE is actually to offer regular face-to-face lectures (especially at the master’s degree). However, it is also open to the public and delivered in English. The activities will include virtual lectures and discussions, case studies, and library research,” he said.

He added that international collaboration offers from several FF UNAIR colleagues such as Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of Auckland New Zealand, Deakin University Australia and the University of Lisbon Portugal could not be fulfilled in the PAGE 2021 event. However, Andi planned to invite several universities to collaborate on PAGE 2022, focusing on clinical pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, and digital care.

“We hope PAGE can be followed by more participants from home and abroad with a better variety of teachers,” he concluded. (*)
