Anniversary Assembly, Rector presents UNAIR contributions for Indonesia after 67 years

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR ) has just held an academic assembly to commemorate the 67th Anniversary on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Garuda Mukti Hall Campus C. UNAIR Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE, MT, Ak., said that he dedicated UNAIR’s 67th year to contribute to the development of a just and civilized Indonesia.

Just and Civilized Indonesia is the tagline of this year’s anniversary celebration. According to Prof. Nasih, it is taken from the second principle of Pancasila, Just and Civilized Humanity which he considers to be the core in the development of a nation. 

“The root of many problems in the world is the lack of justice. Therefore, UNAIR will be present and contribute to creating aspects of justice, side by side with aspects of morality as the main value to realize a just and civilized Indonesia,” he explained.

As a leading university, Prof. Nasih said that significant contributions were the main thing needed. According to him, an institution must be able to provide benefits for advancing civilization and prospering mankind.

“Once again, UNAIR must give its best contributions to all parties from local, national, even global levels. That way, UNAIR’s existence will indirectly be recognized all over the world,” he emphasized.

In his remarks, Prof. Nasih also conveyed some of UNAIR’s achievements throughout 2021. One of them was UNAIR’s success in reaching the fourth position of the best Indonesian universities in QS WUR and various research products that helped handle the Covid-19 pandemic. He also expressed his gratitude to students, lecturers, academic senate members, alumni, and all parties involved for this achievement.

“There are still more tasks and challenges ahead. With SMART, UNAIR will continue to identify and develop its potentials,” he said.

On the occasion, Merah Putih vaccine seed was also handed over to PT. Biotis Pharmaceuticals Indonesia, witnessed by the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi, Khofifah Indar Parawansa as the Governor of East Java and the Chair of IKA UA, Chairman of the UNAIR Board of Trustees, and several other officials.
