UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is holding a virtual education exhibition in February 2021. This educational exhibition, Airlangga Education Expo (AEE) is held annually. Not only educational exhibitions, there were numerous talk shows that will broaden prospective students’ insights about college studies.

In the opening of AEE on Saturday, February 13, 2021 UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh Nasih conveyed information about the new student admission of UNAIR in 2021. There are 837 thousand eligible students to register for state university entrance selection (SNMPTN).

“The national capacity is only around 100,000. This means, there are 700 thousand students who cannot participate in SNMPTN selection process, “said UNAIR Rector who is also the Chair of the Institution of University Entrance Exams (LTMPT).

As in previous years, UNAIR has three admission pathways, SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Independent admission (Mandiri). In addition to those pathways, UNAIR also gives opportunities to prospective students with great achievements to get ‘golden tickets’ to get into UNAIR through SNMPTN pathway.

The ‘golden ticket’ pathway, Prof. Nasih continued, is intended for students with several achievements, including students who had won international competitions or Olympiads held by prominent institutions; student council president of leading schools; and hafiz (memorizer) of Qur’an 30 juz or religious scriptures from public schools with accreditation A.

“On student leaders or the heads of OSIS at leading schools, we are sure they have qualified leadership capacities, we give them the opportunity to get the ‘golden ticket’ from the SNMPTN pathway,” he explained.

The rector added that the capacity for the ‘golden ticket’ in 2021 depends on the composition of the registrants. Registration starts on February16-25, 2021 via the ppmb.unair.ac.id website.

“We will study the applicants’ documents first. Later, we will also openly announce the names selected to get the ‘golden tickets’ at the closing of the AEE, “explained Prof. Nasih. “With golden tickets, it does not mean that all applicants will be accepted. Last year there were 14 people. This year it could more or less, “he added.

UNAIR Rector also said that UNAIR’s capacity this year increased slightly from the previous year, which was 6,300 new students. He encouraged students who would register through SNMPTN ‘golden ticket’ pathway to choose majors at UNAIR diversely, not limited to favorite majors such as Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Dental Medicine which have limited capacity.

Meanwhile, for students who register using Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K), students who have registered for KIP-K and received a registration number, it can be used to register for SNMPTN, SBMPTN, or Independent admission. In 2021, KIP-K UNAIR capacity reaches more than 1000. (*)
