UNAIR Sharia Economics Department becomes trendsetter and pioneer in Islamic Economics Program establishment in Indonesia

UNAIR NEWS – Department of Islamic Economics (Eksyar), Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), has become a trendsetter and pioneer in the establishment of Islamic Economics programs in Indonesia. The Department of Sharia Economics is in charge of three programs, S1 Islamic Economics, Master of Islamic Economics, and Islamic Economics Doctoral Program.

Head of the Department of Sharia Economics, Dr. Sri Herianingrum, SE, M.Si explained that the status of the Covid-19 pandemic has made the digitalization era grow rapidly. It is a challenge for the Department of Islamic Economics to obtain knowledge and practices that are more up-to-date and develop them.

“Thus, the materials we teach in the curriculum will always be able to answer these challenges. Currently, we are implementing the Independent Campus Program – Freedom of Learning, ” she said.

Dr. Ria said that all programs under the management of the Department of Sharia Economics have been accredited A BAN-PT and ABEST21. The department is also the foremost department in the development of Islamic economics, business and finance, especially in Islamic social finance.

“We also have advantages in networking, both domestically and abroad,” she said.

The main domestic network of the Department of Islamic Economics is with Puspas UNAIR, IAEI (Islamic Economic Expert Association), MES (Islamic Economic Community), FORDEBI (Islamic Business Economics and Lecturer Forum). Meanwhile, international networks include Universiti Teknologi Mara Melaka, Universiti Sain Islam Malaysia, and Asia University Taiwan.

Every year, the Department of Sharia Economics, FEB UNAIR holds International Conference and community service activities. The community service program was held in two assisted villages, Ploso Village, Mojo Sub-district, Kediri Regency and Sugihwaras Village, Nganjuk Regency.

“We also have Student and Staff Outbound and Inbound programs, the ASEAN student exchange. Then, at student association level, there are big activities such as Iqtishoduna and Ekis Goes to Desa as a form of introduction to the Islamic Economics program to the community, ” she added.

In the end, Dr. Ria said that Islamic Economics FEB UNAIR has become a trendsetter and pioneer for Islamic Economics program establishment in various state universities and private universities throughout Indonesia. Dr. Ria hoped that the Department of Sharia Economics will continue to maintain and develop these values.

“Hopefully, FE UNAIR Islamic Economics can become the best program among other social humanity programs in UNAIR scope, and also the best among other Islamic economics programs in all universities in Indonesia,” she concluded. (*)
