UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has made another outstanding achievement at national level. The three students from 2017 Political Science, Lalu Ary Kurniawan Hardi, Charisma Omega Nafu, and Antonio Fernando won first place winner in Padjajaran Fest and Conference (PFC) competition in Universitas Padjajaran 2020.
Besides that, the three students also won awards as Best Speaker. Lalu Ary Kurniawan Hardi and Charisma Omega Nafu won as the Co-1st Best Speaker, while Antonio Fernando won the Co-3rd Best Speaker.
The theme of PFC 2020 competition was “Transition of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 towards Society 5.0 for Indonesia” and attended by 32 debate teams from 27 different universities across Indonesia. The event discussed the transition from the industrial revolution 4.0 to society 5.0.
“Some of the topics we discussed included start-ups, environmental, economic and social issues,” he added.
They often do case building, brainstorming and arrange a discussion with each other. Besides that, they also shared their opinion because the essential thing in the debate is the individual assessment.
“We have to equalize our perceptions so that our arguments are uniform so that our team scores can be high,” he added.
According to Ary, they build networks and establish communication with other debaters. The three of them also joined in the same UKM, Airlangga Debate Society and it indirectly increases their teamwork.
“Before the three of us became UNAIR students, we had experience participating in debate competitions in our respective high schools. We have an interest in debating, and we finally form a reliable team, “he concluded. (*)
