Soft-launched, Griya Khadijah officially starts Islamic activities

UNAIR NEWS – To celebrate 66th Anniversary of Universitas Airlangga, the Center for Social Fund Management (PUSPAS) Universitas Airlangga has just held a Soft Launching of Griya Khadijah. The event was held online on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 to coincide with 25 Rabiul Awwal 1442 H.

Attending at the event, Vice Chairman III of National Zakat Charity Agency (BAZNAS) East Java H. Nadjib Hamid, S.Sos. MSi., Chairman of LAZ Al-Azhar East Java Aditya Kusuma, and Dr. Wisudanto SE., MM, CFP, ASPM as Head of PUSPAS, all coordinators, staffs, and 10 Griya Khadijah scholarship recipients. Dr. Tika Widiastuti , SE, M.Si was also present on behalf the initiators of the Griya Khadijah program. 

In his speech, the Head of PUSPAS Wisudanto said that the soft launching marked the beginning of Qur’an Matriculation, through materials on Dirasah Islamiyah or the basics of Islamic teachings.

Furthermore, after passing the Qur’an Matriculation, Griya Khadijah curriculum will begin to be applied. “We will begin the curriculum at the beginning of 2021. The emphasis later will be on tahfizh, entrepreneurship and Islam, as well as soft skills,” he explained.

Wisudanto added, the Grand Launching of Griya Khadijah will be held in early 2021, presided by Rector of Universitas Airlangga Prof . Dr . Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak.

As previously reported, Griya Khajidah is located at Jl. Kali Kepiting 117 B no 5A-5B Surabaya. The Griya Khadijah program provides housing facilities and assistance for selected students. “They will be guided for four years with a target of memorizing at least of five juz, have a noble character, and have an entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.

Universitas Airlangga has been registered with the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) as the first university nazhir (manager) of cash waqf in Indonesia. As a nazhir, Universitas Airlangga has a waqf program, the Amerta Waqf Universitas Airlangga. Wisudanto said the Griya Khadijah Program is one of the productive management models of Universitas Airlangga’s waqf.

“So, we invest in waqf in profitable and safe economic sectors from risks. As well as sticking to the principle of maintaining its core value and utilizing the results, “he explained.

Wisudanto hoped that the program can create new Khadijas in the modern era who have noble characters such as the figure of Khadijah, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad. “We want the participants of this program to grow up as women who memorize Al-Quran and have entrepreneurial spirit,” he concluded. (*)
