Promoting nursing innovations, Faculty of Nursing holds international webinar

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga’s Faculty of Nursing(FKp) held an international webinar in the framework of 66th Anniversary of Universitas Airlangga on Monday afternoon, November 9, 2020. The webinar was themed “Enhancing Culture of Innovation in Nursing Practice during Covid-19 Pandemic. The event was held online via Zoom Cloud Meeting media and streamed on Faculty of Nursing YouTube channel.

The international webinar aims to gain global recognition. Besides, according to the theme, FKp webinar also plays a role in enhancing the culture of innovation in the world of nursing.

There were several speakers in the webinar including Prof. Khatidjah Lim Abdullah (Sunway University, Malaysia), Dr. Amel Dawod Kamel Gidua (Cairo University, Egypt), Associate Prof. Sanglar Polnok (Naresuan University, Thailand), Dr. Erwin Astha Triyono, dr., SpPD., KPTI (Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia), and Prof. Dr. Ah. Yusuf S, S.Kp., M.Kes (Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia) as the keynote speaker.

Each speaker explained the condition of Covid-19 pandemic in various countries with various existing problems and challenges that must be faced by health workers, especially nurses during this pandemic. The speakers also presented innovations that a nurse could do in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic and various challenges in the health world in the future.

There were 1,500 registered participants and it was attended by more than 1000 participants from various countries. They are spread from Afghanistan, Bahamas, Egypt, India, Philippines, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia.

Hakim Zulkarnain S.Kep., Ns., MSN said the webinar program ran smoothly without any obstacles and the speakers were able to present well.

“As conveyed by Dean of FKp in his keynote speaker remarks. The webinar theme can trigger the nurse’s spirit of innovation because the birth of the nursing profession is the result of an innovation made by Florence Nightingale. She made innovations in hand washing, washing tools and sanitation. The innovation changed the medical world until now and gave birth to the nursing profession, ” he added.

With the same spirit, Hakim Zulkarnain S.Kep., Ns., MSN hoped that nurses in this era, could instill the same spirit so nurses will become long live innovators(*)
