UNAIR NEWS – The 31-day adaptation challenge program implemented by National Covid-19 Volunteers (RECON) is a program held by Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) with the Indonesian Medical Student Senate Association (ISMKI). The activity aims to provide health education and dissemination to stop Covid-19 transmission which will be started on August 1, 2020.

The activities was started with a recruitment process in early March which have resulted in many programs for the wider community, such Rumah Bahasa, Hoax Buster, Balai Erona, and the latest 31 day adaptation challenge.

Health education to the wider community is very necessary and must be carried out continuously so the information provided will be embedded in the community. Not only online dissemination, but offline dissemination must also be done, so the information can be comprehensive and intensive.

“The 31-day challenge program for adapting the new habits contains online and offline dissemination. So every day for 31 days there is a schedule to post something, ”said Martining Shoffa Puspitaningrum, a student of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) who also serves as a volunteer.

Information and updates related to Covid-19, she continued, are expected to be accessible not only through official government media, but also through students as Agents of Change who are close to the communities.

“Yes, we want to make people know and can get information and updates about Covid-19 not only through official government media, but also through students,” she added.

Education that is carried out in a sustainable manner, she said, is also expected to raise awareness for the wider community to play an active role in it. This also applies to students who are close and they can provide education with useful activities.

“This activity is fun because during Covid-19 there seems to be no activity, so it is a kind of challenge to provide education to the public directly or indirectly. Suppose there are people who refuse to volunteer, we can make them show willingness, “concluded Shoffa.
