UNAIR NEWS – Alfian Andhika, a recent graduate from Anthropology Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Airlangga who is registered as blind holds a bachelor’s degree with hundreds of graduates during June 2020 period.
During an online graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 27, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih said that all of the graduation participants should listen to Alfian’s journey in studying at UNAIR until he graduated. In the two-minute video, Alfian explained his stories that can be encouragement and inspiration fo others.
2016 is a memorable year for him because bayu accepted and became one of UNAIR’s student. In fact, in conducting studies, he also received bidikmisi education assistance. Alfian also admitted that the process to achieve his dream was not easy. However, with all the efforts and help from God, the limitations as a blind person encouraged Alfian to be more active in realizing his dream.
“In the beginning, it was not easy because I was the first blind student at FISIP UNAIR. However, this experience made me eager to study, “he said.
Furthermore, Alfian said that it could be momentum and reminder for all parties that with encouragement and enthusiasm, people can do anything that they want as long you believe in your dream and make it happen.
“It’s only the beginning of my journey to be a successful person,” he said.
He advised all of the participants that you should show your best version of yourself and don’t give up in reaching your dream to be a successful person.
