UNAIR NEWS – Rector of Universitas Airlangga 2020-2025 period has been elected. Based on UNAIR Board of Trustees (MWA) Plenary Meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 online, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., was re-elected as UNAIR Rector for the 2020-2025 Period.
The election of the rector was held online for the first time. It started at 9:45 and ended at 11:25. The Plenary Meeting was chaired directly by the Chairman of MWA UNAIR in Jakarta, M. Hatta Ali who also serves as Supreme Court Chief Justice.
Representatives from Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) are Dra. Dyah Ismayanti, M.Ed., as Head of Human Resources Bureau. There were also chairman and members of UNAIR Academic Senate.
Chairman of UNAIR Academic Senate (SA) Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp.PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM., said that determining meeting was held online considering the emergency condition of COVID-19. Prof. Djoko hoped that the elected rector will be able to make UNAIR a leading university and contribute more at local, regional, national and global levels, and the welfare of all stakeholders (internal and external) improved.
“Alhamdulillah, we’d like to say congratulations for the mandate given by UNAIR Board of Trustees (MWA), by acclamation to Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, MT, SE, Ak as the Rector of 2020-2025 period at 11.25 WIB today (from a teleconference meeting), “he said.
“Hopefully in carrying out the mandate in the second period, the elected rector will always be provided with ease, fluency, and blessing by Allah SWT to create synergy among all existing stakeholders,” added Prof. Djoko.
Agreeing the statement, UNAIR Academic Senate (SA) member Dr. Ahmad Rizki Sridadi, SH., MM., MH., stated that the election of Prof. Nasih by acclamation indicated that there was a consensus value that was agreed by the members of MWA, especially in the determination of UNAIR rector for the next five years.
“Thank God, by acclamation, based on the forum that was reached by the 2020-2025 rector election plenary meeting, decided Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, as rector for the 2020-2025 period (UNAIR, ed), “he said.
“And of course, this implementation of acclamation reflects the value of discussion with consensus which was then successfully realized in the plenary meeting of the rector election by members of the MWA UNAIR,” he added.
The election process, said Dr. Ahmad Rizki, was begun with an opening remarks by the Chairman of Board of Trustees. Next, the three selected rector candidates conveyed their ideas. First Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM., second, Prof. Dr. Dwi Setyawan, S.Si, M.Si, APT., and third, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA.
“After each candidate’s presentation, there was a question and answer session between the three rector candidates and the MWA members,” he said.
Meanwhile, responding to the result, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM., said that the results were the best as it was from the plenary meeting by members of MWA carried out in a democratic manner. “I think this is the best result. As it was achieved through a democratic process, from a discussion with consensus, “he said.
Based on these results, Prof. Bambang considered that the acceleration towards UNAIR’s vision and missions could be carried out together with more improvements. It means Prof. Nasih can continue his programs started five years earlier that are showing positive results. (*)
