UNAIR NEWS – The administration has appointed laboratories conducting tests related to coronavirus and it will not only be conducted at Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). Now, examinations can also be carried out at Universitas Airlangga Hospital and Eijkman Institute.
It was conveyed by the spokesman for coronavirus handling, Achmad Yurianto, at Presidential Palace complex, Central Jakarta, Friday, March 13, 2020.
In this regard, Rector of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Mohammad Nasih, said that in accordance with the values and commitments, he was grateful UNAIR could contribute in handling one of the problems faced by this nation, Covid-19.
“We are very grateful to the President and the Ministry of Health for the trust and opportunity given to UNAIR in this case, Institute of Tropical Disease,” said UNAIR rector, Friday, March 13, 2020.
In handling Covid-19, ITD UNAIR in collaboration with Kobe University managed to get a reagent to examine and detect coronavirus. The reagent is a specific premiere that can be used to identify someone with coronavirus.
Based on the mandate given by the Ministry of Health, UNAIR Hospital together with ITD UNAIR will collaborate to identify the presence of coronavirus. As Prof. Nasih said, the identification carried out by UNAIR Hospital does not need long time.
“We will give and do the best for our beloved nation and country,” the Rector said.
Since its emergence in Indonesia, the coronavirus test can only be done at Balitbangkes Ministry of Health. Now President Joko Widodo has ordered that the coronavirus test be conducted outside the Ministry of Health. The President said that the Minister of Health Terawan would take care of the technical implementation of tests outside the Ministry of Health. (*)
