Communication students of UNAIR achieve third place and Top 10 East Java’s Raka Raki

UNAIR NEWS – Ksatria Airlangga (UNAIR students) have made another extraordinary achievement. It was from students of Communication Science class 2017, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

Dimas Ilham Pramudiya, the representative of Lamongan Regency, reached Top 10 East Java Raka, and Shafira Alifia, Surabaya City representative succeeded in obtaining the third place of East Java Raki after competing with 35 Raki representatives from other regencies and cities in East Java.

Previously, Dimas and Shafira had been active in the Association of Yak Yuk Tourism Ambassadors in Lamongan Regency and Cak Ning in the City of Surabaya, so that they could represent their regency and city in the election event for the East Java Raka Raki Tourism Ambassador. The Grand Final was held at Graha Wilwatikta, Pasuruan Regency, on Saturday, March 7, 2020.

According to Dimas, the main keys to be Raka Raki in East Java are excellent public speaking and broad insight with a disciplined and positive attitude. Dimas did a lot of preparation such as mentoring, public speaking lesson, vlog production, to English lessons.

“I got really nervous. I never expected to make the top ten. I continued to pray and calm down on stage to answer questions well, and Alhamdulillah I can answer them, ” said Dimas.

Shafira, who represented Surabaya, said that she needed two months to prepare. She followed the mentoring given by Cak Ning Society of Surabaya City to take part in the East Java Raka Raki.

In the Grand Final, Shafira made the top three of Raki East Java because of her ability to answer questions positively given by the judges. It was about the views of younger generation on the development of tourism in the 4.0 era.

“I answered as best as possible with the material given from the mentoring of Cak Ning society before leaving for quarantine, and I feel proud to be able to make the community, the city, and UNAIR proud,” Shafira said.

Shafira and Dimas gained a lot of experience after attending the East Java Raka Raki Tourism Ambassador contest. According to Shafira, she has many memorable moments during quarantine on Thursday, March 5, 2020, to Sunday, March 8, 2020. Not only for judging and material briefing, but the participants also learned choreography for the grand final night.

“Cooperation between participants is the key to implementing this quarantine period, so the nature of the family also exists between all representatives from cities and districts in East Java,” she added.

For information, previously Shafira and Dimas gained many achievements. Shafira was Ning Surabaya 2018, and Dimas as Top 8 Mister Teen East Java 2018 and Police Traffic Ambassador Lamongan 2019. (*)
