“We will exchange information about international schedules and agendas that will be conducted by UNAIR and Kitakyushu University throughout 2020”
UNAIR NEWS – For the first time, Kitakyushu University from Japan came to Indonesia to visit Universitas Airlangga on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. UNAIR was chosen as the first campus for Kitakyushu University to establish international collaboration in Indonesia. The visit was held to discuss various opportunities and potential for international collaboration and research between the two universities.
In the meeting at the Management Office of Campus C, UNAIR and Kitakyushu University had established a research collaboration with Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) in the field of low carbon in Indonesia. The low carbon research collaboration included student exchange program, collaborative research activities, analysis, and exchange of research and academic publications.
There were 15 students and lecturers from FST Environmental Engineering sent to Japan for three months to conduct research. The low carbon research collaboration itself is intended to examine the quantity of carbon and how it effects the health and protection of the community.
Following up on the collaboration, representatives from Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Psychology (FPsi), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FSI) FKH), and Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) were present to explain the research and exchange potential of each program and faculty.
At Faculty of Economics and Business, for example, as many as 200 students and teaching staff have been sent to various countries to undergo research and cultural exchanges. FIB which has a Japanese Studies program has great potential for cooperation in the field of development of Japanese literature and culture.
“We will exchange information about international schedules and agendas that will be conducted by UNAIR and Kitakyushu University throughout 2020,” said Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si as UNAIR Vice Rector I.
During the meeting, UNAIR revealed the international exchange and partnership agenda that made it possible to carry out with Kitakyushu University. On the other hand, Kitakyushu himself explained about many cultural exchanges, internships, special lectures for international students, and other potentials that could be developed with UNAIR.
“Surabaya is a good city and Professor Miyake, Matsutomo, and Kodama have known and established many collaborations with UNAIR. We hope to have strong exchange collaboration in the future, “said Professor Masato Ninomiya as Director of the Center for International Education and Exchange, referring to the collaboration between FST and Kitakyushu University.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nanik Siti Aminah as FST representative explained that the collaboration was a multi-sector progressive step with Kitakyushu University. “Hopefully our cooperation will continue to Kitakyushu students coming to UNAIR,” said the Vice Dean III of FST. (*)
