UNAIR NEWS – Youth Pledge Day, which celebrated every October 28 has a special meaning for Indonesian youth. Especially in the contents of Youth Pledge Day, which upholds the use of bahasa Indonesia. Currently, the language is still not understood well by the public.
These problems motivated Mochamad Alviensyah, Indonesian Language and Literature Student (Sasindo) Faculty of Humanities (FIB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) to make an innovation. The idea was Podcast Bahasa.
Alvien wants to educate the public about bahasa Indonesia. According to him, he also wants to improve his public speaking ability by making a podcast on Spotify.
Before being active on Spotify, Alvin intensely channelled his knowledge on Instagram. He often makes the difference between standard and non-standard words aimed at educating the wider community.
“My hobby is adding insight about linguistics on Spotify,” he said.
Moreover, he raised current issues and discussed with some of his friends. In building the latest issue, he invited Yunaz Ali Akbar Karaman, Head of BEM FIB UNAIR 2018 and Mochammad Sholeh Pratama, Head of BEM FIB UNAIR 2019.
Alvien admitted that in making language podcasts, he search some words in Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI) online to validate the word before uploading the podcast.
He faced several challenges in making podcasts such as having a minimum device for recording the podcast. The recorder still has a below-average quality standard.
After uploading several podcasts, Alvien got mic from his friend, and in return he also promotes his friend’s products.
“I’m grateful that the audio is clearer than before,” he said.
Hopefully, this podcast can educate the importance of using proper Bahasa Indonesia. Don’t forget to learn other languages also.
