UNAIR NEWS – The Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) international conference aimed at young people in the Asian region is one of the prestigious events for students. Because this conference provides an opportunity for young people to learn diplomacy, negotiation, as well as sharing ideas and solutions to solve various problems in the world.

AYIMUN has been a platform that brought together young leaders from various countries. They met to exchange ideas on political and humanitarian issues. AYIMUN has become a forum for communication while opening an international network of young people.

Universitas Airlangga students also participated in 2019 AYIMUN. One of them is Nisrina Rahma Berlianna, Faculty of Law (FH) student who is known as Erlin. This year, Erlin became the 2019 AYIMUN delegation held from Sunday, August 25, 2019 to Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

To follow the prestigious event, Erlin had to struggle to become one of the delegates at 2019 AYIMUN. She had to go through a series of tests until he was declared a delegation from Universitas Airlangga who participated in 2019 AYIMUN.

Erlin admitted, she had an interest in developing international issues. For this reason, she signed up for AYIMUN with the initial conditions for making essays and motivation letters. Gender equality was her topic of choice.

“At that time I made an essay about the importance of gender equality in the global era. I also told stories about my experiences in making articles about the positions and roles of women and children in the colonial period, “said Erlin.

Unexpectedly, out of 35,000 registrants, Erlin passed and became one of the thousand delegates of 2019 AYIMUN. At the conference, Erlin expressed her opinion in Threats to Women ‘s and Children’ s Human Security During the Times of War.

Conducting research and making a position paper were some preparations made by Erlin before flying to Malaysia. She also studied the proper procedures for UN trials and prepared the right vocabulary for UN sessions.

“AYIMUN is divided into 18 councilsWell, by chance I was included in the UN-WOMAN council to discuss gender equality and women’s empowerment, ” she explained.

At AYIMUN event, Erlin gave her opinion on gender equality as a representative of the Ivory Coast country. She also provided a solution to how a country should communicate with other countries to address the issue of gender equality.

Erlin was very happy and excited to be a delegate in international events such as 2019 AYIMUN. It was a valuable experience for him. Erlin hoped, in the future, more UNAIR students will be able to take part in international conferences such as AYIMUN.

“For other students, keep on looking for information about international conferences on social media, or for the first time like me, you can try local MUN like Airlangga MUN to start it, “concluded Erlin. (*)
