FISIP Students Crowned as Second Place Winner in East Java Language Ambassador 2019

UNAIR NEWS – Ganesh Novia Pertiwi or more familiarly called Ganesh, administration student at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Airlangga succeeded in making a brilliant achievement. Precisely at 2019 East Java Language Ambassadors Election Event, Ganesh won the Second Place of the summit of East Java Ambassadors at 2019 East Java Ballroom at Luminor Hotel, Sidoarjo on Wednesday, July 31.

Ganesh represented Universitas Airlangga in the event organized by East Java Province Language Center. She was paired with a second-place winner, Satria Wicaksono from Tulungagung Regency.

Ganesh’s motivation in participating in Language Ambassadors Selection event began with her desire to increase her main knowledge related to literacy. “At first, I wanted to join the competition because I was free during semester break time. After that, I was increasingly motivated to participate in this competition as best and as much as possible, “said Ganesh.

In addition, Ganesh did some preparations. Among them, preparing for Krida Linguistics namely Airlangga Knights Library which was built jointly by Universitas Airlangga Student Executive Board (BEM), studied material related to Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI), and finally prepared various clothes that would be exhibited during the competition.

During quarantine, Ganesh enjoyed the competition but it was also tiring experience for her because quarantine is carried out for two days on a tight schedule. The first day the participants had to take Indonesian Language Proficiency Test, the group discussion was gathered and continued with the presentation of material by Head of East Java Provincial Language Office. The second day the finalists were asked to present their language classes, interviews related to Culture and the Embassy, ​​then followed by an aptitude test.

Ganesh hopes after being crowned as the runner-up in the 2019 East Java Language Ambassadors election event is to be able to optimize the ability of self to continue to optimize the abilities themselves with the mandate that is now obtained. as a Language Ambassador, he also hopes to be able to campaign for the use of Indonesian Language that is good and right in the public space. Moreover, the duty as Language Ambassador to uphold the tri gatra of language. Namely, prioritizing Indonesian, preserving regional languages, and mastering foreign languages. (*)
