UNAIR Increases Academic Mobility Exchange Through AMERTA Program

UNAIR NEWS – To improve the quality of AMERTA (Academic Mobility Exchange for Undergraduate at Airlangga), Directorate of Education at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a Workshop on AMERTA XI. Located at Luminor Hotel Jemursari, Surabaya dozens of lecturers attended a workshop, and it was held on Friday, July 26.

The seminar was attended directly by UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Dr., Djoko Santoso, Ph.D., K-GH., FINASIM and Director of Education at UNAIR Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM. In the AMERTA XI workshop, there were Head of UNAIR Center for Learning and Certification Innovation (PIPS) Yuni Sari Amalia SS, MA, Ph.D., as Executive Secretary – Airlangga Global Engagement, Dian Ekowati SE., M.Si., M. AppCom (OrgCh)., Ph.D, and Sub Director of Education Development Irfan Wahyudi S.Sos., M.Comms., Ph.D.

UNAIR Director of Education, Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM., said AMERTA is a program aimed at international students to study in UNAIR. In the program, they will take courses offered by UNAIR. Besides, AMERTA has been going on for 11 times.

“The program itself strongly supports student mobility, especially students from various countries to Universitas Airlangga,” he added.

The main objective of AMERTA workshop is monitoring and evaluation related to the implementation of AMERTA. Besides, it will also discuss improvement and innovation that can be done to improve the quality of the program.

“The quality is of several courses in the program offered by UNAIR can attract international students,” he said.

Through AMERTA program, UNAIR offers other perspectives in the learning process in lectures. The program is not only attended by students who are members of the AUN (ASEAN University Network), but also non-AUN countries.

“For AUN countries, they come from Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Many students come from Europe. Among them are students from France, Germany, Netherlands, “he added.

Prof. Bambang said the courses in AMERTA program would provide something new and exciting. Something that might not be obtained by international students in their country.

“Hopefully, they (students who join AMERTA, ed) will get new knowledge that can only be obtained through AMERTA program,” he said. (*)
