UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Center for Social Fund Management (PUSPAS) provided a wheelchair aid to Rozi S.Pi., M.Biotech., a lecturer of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK) who had an accident while doing a research. The wheelchair was given on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in the lecturers’ room, Cakalang Building FPK UNAIR Building.
Dr. Tika Widiastuti, SE., M.Si., as Head of PUSPAS, Dr. Wisudanto SE., MM. CFP., as secretary of PUSPAS, and Desi Wulan Sari, S.Pi., M.Si., of Distribution Division were present.
The wheelchair aid to Rozi was PUSPAS effort to support Higher Education Tri Dharma in UNAIR environment. Rozi is a lecturer of Microbiology, Molecular Biotechnology, and Fish Disease Analysis at FPK UNAIR. On this occasion Rozi expressed his gratitude to PUSPAS UNAIR for providing aid.
Despite his condition, Rozi continues to educate the students. His daily mobility is supported by a wheelchair. Rozi said that the old wheelchair was not comfortable enough.
He often had to endure the heat and pain after two to three hours of sitting. After two to three hours the Rozi must lie down to reduce the pain. The doctors did not allow him to sit for long periods of time.
“The new wheelchair is lighter. Then there is a base that is hollow so that it is more comfortable, “Rozi said.
Rozi also said that the new wheelchair is lighter when it is lifted and pushed and looks sturdier than the previous one.
“With these advantages, I hope I could carry out my Tri Dharma activities, teaching, research, and community service, easier,” he said. (*)
