UNAIRNEWS – D3 Nursing Study Program Alumni Association (IKA) in Gresik UNAIR Gresik held a social service in three flood-affected villages on May 6-9. The social service is one of the UNAIR Alumni Association (IKA) and UNAIR academics (lecturers) effort in helping the communities around there.

Social services held in three areas, namely Jono, Pandu and Tambak Beras Villages in Cerme District, Gresik Regency. In fact, these three locations became the worst affected areas.

“The water level in Jono, Pandu, and Tambak Beras Villages is high, thus residents unable to move,” said Lestari Sudaryanti as coordinator of D3 Nursing Study Program at Gresik.

The distribution of donation are logistics and health treatment. Logistics donation consists of mineral water, instant noodles, packages of school stationery supplies, dates, biscuits, rice, and medicines. Since Pandu Village is the least affected village, there was no health treatment.

“We went down to the field together twice on May 5-6,” said Lestari.

“Tambak Beras village became the last village affected by the flood.” she added.

Moreover, Lestari hoped that IKA and UNAIR academics could provide moral support to the communities so, they can go back to their normal lives after the disaster. The program is also expected for the community to be able to recover immediately. Hopefully, there will be a solution to the problem that caused flooding.
