UNAIR Distributes Scholarships to Elementary School Students

UNAIR NEWS – As a form of implementation of Higher Education Tri Dharma, Universitas Airlangga always gives its attention to elementary level education. One of its contribution was done by providing scholarships to 210 students from several elementary schools (SD) in Mulyorejo Sub-district, Surabaya.

The symbolic scholarship handover was carried out in 3rd Floor Meeting Room, UNAIR Management Office, on Friday, May 10, 2019. There were principals of each recipient elementary school. The scholarship fund will be channeled to poor students. Each recipient receives Rp. 400 thousand scholarship.

The event was opened directly by UNAIR Director of Student Affairs Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH., CN. In his speech, he said that the scholarship was a form of UNAIR service to the community.

“We have carried out this event for several years. And, we continue to do it. This is one form of community service. As UNAIR is ours and belongs to Indonesian people,” he said.

The event was attended by several elementary school principals in Mulyorejo Subdistrict and coordinating supervisor from sub-district government. One of the school principals from Kalijudan I Elementary School, Drs. Mat Sudjak, M.Pd., revealed that the of scholarships from UNAIR was very useful for poor students in supporting their education. He also expressed his gratitude to UNAIR.

“Alhamdulillah, it is very useful for our students. The scholarships given by UNAIR will be distributed to our students who are challenged financially so they can support their needs, such as for stationery and clothing, “he said.

“Also, so that they can go to school comfortably. We, on behalf of elementary schools (SD) in Mulyorejo Subdistrict, would express our deepest gratitude to Universitas Airlangga, which have been caring for our students for several years, “he told UNAIR NEWS team.

The event was continued with the submission of scholarships to each elementary school representative in Mulyorejo District. This activity is expected to support elementary school students who have difficulties in continuing their education. (*)
