UNAIR NEWS – A new program was initiated by Off Main Campus Program (PSDKU) UNAIR Banyuwangi in growing student interest in reading. Under the work program of 2019 Harmonious Cabinet, KM PSDKU is working to build a Reading Corner.
The plan received support from UNAIR Information and Library Science Student Association (HIMAFORSTA) in Surabaya. As a program which examines library material issues and reading interest, HIMAFORSTA is interested in helping Student Family (KM) PSDKU in realizing the Reading Corner.
HIMAFORSTA offers support to help collecting books. The offer was then welcomed by KM PSDKU. So on Sunday, May 5, 2019, representatives of PSDKU and HIMAFORSTA KM met at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Campus B UNAIR to hand over the books.
” Alhamdulillah, I was greatly helped by this collaboration, especially after receiving the books, according to the books we need, “said Diah Susi as Scientific Division representative of KM PSDKU.
“Hopefully in the future this collaboration will not only stop here. Maybe on another occasion we can hold a joint bazaar in PSDKU campus, ” she added.
The books given to KM PSDKU are the remains from Airlangga Book Sale 2017. The biggest book bazaar event in UNAIR, which was initiated by Information and Library Science students (IIP). There are still plenty, HIMAFORSTA then donated the books.
Head of HIMAFORSTA, Indiharjo Madani, said that this collaboration is one way to establish friendship with UNAIR students at Banyuwangi Campus. Futhermore, IIP students also concern with students’ reading interest through the Reading Corner.
“The collaboration between HIMAFORSTA and KM in realizing the reading corner is expected to run smoothly. Hopefully this collaboration can improve the reading interest of KM PSDKU students and encourage them to go to the library, “said 2017 IIP student. (*)
